well i'm back

summer has been a hoot.

With driveing and being a union president and working at home time seems to move a little to fast and soon school starts and it seems there stilll more to do.

The garden this summer was a waste with rain cold weather and warm it went from to much to to little . well hopefully next year will be better i'll rethink my garden .

the horses are doing well and Olivia (Aliwa) Is doing great. Seems i have a talent to keeping her going. who knew.

one of the chickens hid eggs this year and WOW I got extra babies. 6 Pic't later. they are so cute and soon will be joining the coop the stupid hen left them after a 3 weeks and never went back . Guess chickens are not good mom's. or this one wasn't.

so how you like this trasportation time to go to the moon huh. wait no safety belt. so if you get knocked off on the moon do you bounce.

Well as I'm always telling everyone i live on the crazy farm . I found a old uncovered tennis ball and threw it out of the barn and wow stupid chickens chased it so I said to my self must of been a fluke . So I threw it again and they did it again.
so now I think its time to get someone with a camera to come up and when I do it have them video it . himmm time for funniest home video himm.

We also got to go to the Tampa Zoo and they had bald Eagle is this the greatest really up close not bad having taken this with my phone camera. As most of the last photo's of the space center to.

this is the inside of the space ship where the crew went cool . So tiny though. Can't be afriad of small place here .

You can't tell of all the embems to choose from I chose the apollo got to have the horses. Hee.

this is the Hotel we stayed at on the 8Th floor and what a great place brand new and only open a short time . all the rooms are suite's and they had two bed rooms and two bathrooms and kitchen and dinning room . TVs in every room . really nice.

so this is the hotel pool area and where David and I were sitting out side the pool relaxing after are long drive.

so the two pictures to the side are taken in the old launch pad half way between the new launch pad and the big tall building I showed you . the little structure that looks like a building on the photo to the top is the lauch pad and yes there is a shuttle on it . COOl . and there is a road that is all stone that runs from that tall building to the launch pad there and that road is soooo wide .

now this is the back and where the shuttles come out pretty cool doors huh the dark middle ones are the door . Boy would not want to be the one to have to fix those if they break.

well here are some pic's of the Kennedy space center . this is the building they use to get the shuttle ready they say it's bigger then the stature of liberty and let me tell you it's tall make you feel really small.

the flag is suppose to be the biggest around .

all the land around the space center is a preserve. they have a large alligator population coolest birds.

So the the first day David and I went and stayed in this really cool hotel. 2 bed rooms one room has 2 beds and a bathroom just out side the door . The master bedroom has King size bed and attached bathroom . the shower is soo big you could have 4 people in it and the tub is a Whirlpool cool. All the rooms have TV and a kitchen if you wanted to cook. Ha I'm on vacation are they NUTS.
We spent 2 nite's . WOW Thank you David.

Well I got a vacation and with a little help from a friend and my sister I was off. Oh but not with out problems .
So I get to the airport on time and lo and behold I'm now waiting for 4-5 hours. due to a plane with problems that they at last decided to swap out, then i get to sit on the plane for 20 minutes . FUN FUN. NOT.
So we get into Newark and would ya know I miss the plane my minutes. so I go to customer service they inform me I'm now booked for the next day . So I say I don't think so. Find me a way out! so then she takes attitude and sends me to a different place saying I can get a plane there. Oh yea the plane took off 15 minutes ago. Hmmm get a feeling she wanted to get rid of me. Then the lady there says she'll try to help me says I got to wait 5 hours to get one out. I ask to be put on a different plane oh no and if I keep talking she'll send me back to customer services. ha took the ticket and placed a complaint with Continental with both them and with better business bureau.
So get into Florida and spent a week and had so much fun with my cousin David. Pictures to follow . Went to Epcot, the Kennedy space center the shuttle was on the launch pad . COOL. and the Tampa Zoo.

So here is a good one. I left my ladder up against the house and no big deal right. HA ! I'm out side and I hear meow meow and I look up and the new addition to the house Tommy 2, the crazy cat is on my roof he climbed up the ladder and was up there strolling around . So I run to get my camera and run around trying to get a picture cause I didn't think anyone would believe me and what does he do gets down before I can get a picture this cat is going to be something .

Well the cluz is in action again went to the barn fell over a bale of hay and pulled all the ligaments in my left leg then went on muscle relaxers and WOW could not stay awake .
then to top off the last few weeks i took in a friends horses she was looking after. they are cute . Pictures to follow.
And as always with spring MUD lots of MUD .

So what a weekend . Times like this i think i need a strong arm around. Hmmmm Maybe not.
I got brave and climbed on the roof of my house , time to shovel the snow off. Guess I'm not as old as i thought .
Keep my Aunt Mary in your prayers folks as she no spring chick and she fell and broke her hip.
So along with cleaning stalls and getting the snow off house and barn roof, I've been going Thu pictures and scanning them Wow.
Well Guess that is what weekends are for.

With winter here we all seem to be hibernating and the horse are doing well eating there heads off. OH I also adopted a new Kitty His name is Tommy 2 and acts just like the First. Nutso cat. One minute nice the attack Cat. But were working on it . I'll post pic's soon .

Nothing seems to keep her down. David ,Cathal ,Scott ( camera shy. Just would not let me take his picture.) and Debbie went out to eat . HMMM.

So here it is January 28 , 2009 and SNOW DAY. YEAAAAA. So much fun once again the team of Kringle , Odie and Angel took off at least this time it was in day light . They took off the other nite just after dark only that time it was Kringle and Angel ( what a misnomer) and thanks to some very nice people i got them back quickly.
Really got to come up with a better plan for when there loose. And Electric fence would be nice but not at the cost. oh well time to work on a plan for the spring.

Well everyone this is Lauren and Rhett.

Lauren is my friend Kathy's daughter and her intended hmm . Boy am I getting old.

She was one of Maude's first to teach to ride. She was little but Maude took good Care.

Lauren has grown up to be a teacher WOW am I impressed. Good job.

Well this is what they are now calling snow showers. Hmmm looks to me like a snow storm we getting close to 4-6 inches. This is the farm in a snow storm.

well here is a good on i went out to feed my horses and surprise there was a falcon in my barn and flipping out because he couldn't find a way out. What a time not to have my camera. He did get out and the dogs were all freaked out. what next.

well it's been a great week my cousin David came to town and what a great thing this was .It was so great to see him,and he looked so well. I really find that he is a great Guy and wish he lived closer.
I'll be posting picture's when i can we went out to dinner with David , Scott and Debbie and then went to my aunt's at the convent to have dinner and later spent the night at my sisters it was good. Got up the next morning to have breakfast,
Made me realize that I have to stay in even better contact with the family more that I do .
Also made me miss the weekends that we use to do growing up spending time at My Grandparents house and spending time with all the cousins. Really miss the fun.

My treatment for Cushings on my horses

To all my horse friends I'm going to put my treatment for Cushing on my blog, It seems to be working and as you all know if it works I'll share mind you this is my treatment and I am not a vet and have done this through hit and miss . I make no Guarantees or promises that it will work on all Horses. All you Can do is try.

First if you horse is showing signs of cushings -Cresty neck, long hair in the winter , trouble shedding, extreme weight gain on some extreme weight loss on others, and these horses are prone to founder. The number one thing you should do is have your horse Tested . Personally I have all mine tested these days and the earlier the better.

After testing you should follow the regimens of Pergolite and then you need to find out if there is possible a sugar problem some do get it.

Then if you want to try my method here goes. Point of fact I have been using this for awhile and while you have to adjust it to each horse it seems to help. Point of fact my Olivia is doing fairly well .

First I use Chaste Tree Powder and i use the powder on all my horses.( point they have the seeds but they are a pain to crush)
1 teaspoon for ponies '
1 1/2 to 2 for Horses

I use beet pulp ( use blue seal beet pellets )with no MOLASSES Sugar is the number one
problem with cushing,using beet pulp lowers the glycemic index of the diet so if insulin's are ever high this is advisable. If you horse if fussy I will be adding a list of flavoring latter to add that really help and use no sugar. You should check you feed . A goodthing to is to soak the hay , i do realize that in the winter this could be a problem.

I also use Remisson I get this to add to the diet for Horses that have founder and find it works well.

Most Vets recommend that you not pasture feed but i do and you need to use a grazing muzzle
or use a small area.
Stop using anything with molasses, most feeds are a problem ,NO carrots,apples,or treats containing sugar.
Also Glucosamine or yucca should not be used.TMZ or SMz antibiotics should be limited. try something else ( talk it over with your Vet.

Make sure you have plenty of salt. Iodized is best.

Bed on shavings not straw as they eat this and it is not good sometimes contains a higher sugar content.

you should also put them on a vitamins and mineral supplement ( check to make sure it contains no sugar).

Some Flavoring that Horse seem to like:

Cinnamon, Peppermint extract or sage, you can also add Wheat Germ.

These are some flavors that were done by a vet.

The horses' top-ranked flavors were (in order)

Fenugreek
Banana
Cherry
Rosemary
Cumin
Carrot
Peppermint
Oregano

If you have problem with Pain i have and find your horse can't always stay on medicine for pain I you some suggested homoeopathic treatments:

These are good for anti inflammatory and pain.

One is Burdock leave. (You know those lovely burr's you get in the summer.)
just the leave let them free eat .

As also those nifty Wild grape vine leave you see growing up the poles /fences during the summer . (Be careful there are some look alikes ) i'll take pictures this summer and post them for you.

This is my Niece Heather and My Nephew John

Great kids. Don't see them much but i think of them all the time.

Heather is now a teacher and john is still figuring out what he wants to do. I'm sure he'll do all right once he finds what he's passion in life is.

Well eveyone want's to see me so here is a year old one .

Well it's the New Year and boy is it cold 6 degree's burrrr. But the good News my cousin David is comeing North. Time to party . So all considering I'll soon have pic's of him on my blog. What a time though to come North , Gives him a chance to see,touch snow again. Living south in 70's degree weather this cold will be a real shocker. hee hee.
